In real estate and in life, I’ve found that the simplest approach is often the best one: be honest, work hard, and treat people right. That’s the foundation I’ve built my business on, and it’s shaped every step of my journey.
Years ago, I was working in a construction-related job, installing office furniture. It was steady work, but I wanted something more fulfilling. I was drawn to real estate from the investment side. I saw it as an opportunity to build wealth and create a solid foundation for my future.
Initially I tried wholesaling, but it wasn’t quite right for me. Instead, I found myself taking on the challenge of renovating a fire-damaged house. During that long process, I discovered how much I enjoyed transforming a property and seeing its potential come to life.
Around that same time, I realized the real estate courses I had completed in college while earning my business management degree were about to expire. Rather than let that opportunity slip away, I decided to take the licensing exam and passed. That decision marked the beginning of my real estate career in 2014.
Starting in real estate was really starting my own business. Growing up, I’d watched my dad run his home improvement business and saw the value in doing good, honest work for people. Not only did he create a reputation for quality, reliable service, but he also had control over how he ran things. That combination of flexibility, helping people, and building something for my family’s future was really appealing to me. At the time, my wife, Rachel, and I had just started our family, so it was a great time to start this new chapter.
In the early years, I balanced real estate part-time while still working my previous job. The market was tough after the market crash, and I had to push myself out of my comfort zone. As someone who is naturally introverted, cold calling and networking did not come easily. But over time, I found that clients appreciated my straightforward and honest approach. I would rather advise someone to walk away from a house than encourage a decision that was not right for them. This philosophy has helped me build lasting relationships and a steady stream of repeat and referral clients.
I’ve lived in Strongsville my whole life, so I know the area very well. I understand the differences between neighborhoods, what makes each one unique, and how things have changed over the years. That helps me give clients real, practical advice, whether they’re families looking for good schools or investors searching for the right opportunity. I pay attention to what people actually need, and I’m honest about whether a house or area is the right fit. I’ve also personally done 12 flips, so I understand both the personal and financial elements of buying a home.
Ultimately, my business is built on trust, responsiveness, and a genuine desire to help people find the right fit. My goals now are to keep learning, growing, and finding new ways to add value to my clients.
Outside of work, my life revolves around my family. We have three boys: Parker, Jonah, and Finley. They keep us busy with school, soccer, and swimming. I have always loved living here, so we fully embrace jet skiing on Lake Erie in summer, snowboarding in winter, and enjoying our community, family, and friends. We are also active in our church. Faith is the foundation of my life and business, living by the golden rule and raising our sons to do the same.
Responsiveness and trust have become the foundation of my business. In real estate, things can happen quickly. The difference of a few hours can make or break whether you get into a home and put in an offer. That is why I make it a priority to answer my phone, respond quickly, and be available. Just as important, I provide straightforward information and advice. I will always tell you what you need to hear, not just what you want to hear. That honesty goes a long way when having realistic expectations on the process, pricing, and what you can expect to happen.
With my experience in real estate investing and renovations, I understand what adds real value and what could become a costly mistake. This allows me to help buyers identify opportunities, guide investors through potential deals, and advise sellers on improvements that will actually make an impact. Combined with my local knowledge and trusted network of contractors, I can provide practical guidance and resources to help clients navigate every type of real estate situation. I’m fortunate to build my business on repeat and referrals because I strive to provide an experience that leaves my clients excited to refer me to their friends and family knowing they are in trusted hands.
Sincerely,
Jason Hoag
